Old world Mediterranean meets new world Fort Lauderdale at Serafina Waterfront Trattoria. Unpretentious, unassuming and completely unaffected. This boutique jewel of a restaurant is idyllically positioned on the edge of Fort Lauderdale’s infamous Victoria Park overlooking the Middle River waterway. There are two ways to get to Serafina, by car or boat. If you are fortunate enough to arrive by boat you can dock your vessel at any spot along the 100’ of dockage space in front of Serafina or you can enter through the clay tiled, mosaic corridor which invitingly leads you to the indoor dining room; whichever way you enter you are warmly greeted in Italian “Buona Sera !” by the gracious owner Roberto Gioiosa who sees to it that your experience at his Trattoria is second to none.
Serafina’s menu of Italian cuisine is rich in history, flavors and tradition. Chef/Owner Michele Viscosi’s recipes are his family recipes that have been handed down for generations. The menu at Serafina emphasizes fresh seafood, homemade pastas and succulent meats. The cuisine is classic yet inventive, the ingredients fresh and impeccably paired with a deliberate contemplation of flavors such as the Branzino al Sale, a sea-salt crusted Mediterranean bass (de-boned tableside) paired with a rich, creamy wild mushroom risotto drizzled with truffle oil. The Gnocchi Sorrentina must have a cult following as it is handmade with ricotta, sautéed with a San Marziano tomato sauce and topped with melted Mozzarella di Buffalo. For those who classify dessert as “heaven” the homemade Tiramisu is nirvana, take a bite and watch what happens!
Serafina’s Sommelier Fernando Ballesteros manages the wine list which adds just the right je ne sais quoi to every dish on the menu just when it seemed nothing more could be added.
This beautiful Mediterraneanesque waterfront trattoria is a lovely place for a romantic dinner; a charming venue for a gathering of friends or a delight for that celebratory dinner.
