The best thing about eating “plural-ly” (is that a word?) You get to try multiple things on the menu without (A) looking like a glutton, and (B) not risk spontaneously combusting. So neighbor-guy and I bellied up to the bar and ordered two Rocco’s Tacos house Margaritas on the rocks with salt at the suggestion of Denise the bartender. Good suggestion Denise. Paying tribute to the ‘cold weather’ and knowing after one sip of my Rocco’s Tacos house Margarita (they pour a nice drink) I wasn’t going home to make my crockpot Pot Roast, so we ordered Rocco’s Tacos Tortilla Soup to start. It was hot, hearty and heavenly a wonderful rich portion of flavorful stocky-soup is just what we needed to start our little taco and tequila adventure off. Next we moved onto the namesake menu items Rocco’s Tacos both in authentic soft flour tortillas we had Pollo (chicken) and Carne Molida (spicy beef) we liked the Carne Molida best, perfectly seasoned, perfectly spicy. At this point we’re ready for Rocco’s Tacos house Margaritas Round-2. (I like to say Rocco’s Tacos! It has a fun little ring to it!) So neighbor-guy, my adjunct foodie friend says what else are we going to eat, you’re working after all….Ok 1-1/2 Rocco’s Tacos house Margarita down (they pour a nice drink) and tres amigos, el norte, flauteas, nachos, barbioca, queso all look, sound and taste the same to me. So we enlist the assistance of Denise our Rocco’s Tacos bartender to suggest our next indulgence, and BAM! She nailed it Chile Rellenos, charred poblano chile, chi hua hua and goat cheese, salsa rojo, crema, crotija cheese, red rice, black beans. Woo-Hoo! and chi hua hua! I like spice. I have over developed tastebuds I personally like rich, deep, dark flavors and the seasonings and spices in the Carne Molida’s and the Chile Rellenos are right on.
Antojitos means small plates or appetizers to people in BocaLand. Not sure where this is on the menu but the women sitting next to us at the bar ordered chips and salsa and guacamole. Denise the bartender actually made the guacamole! No joke, right in front of us she pulled out her Motor & Pestal and started peeling and slicing and chopping and grinding all the Rocco’s Tacos secret ingredients that it took to make the ‘fresh guacamole dip’. It was very impressive. Neighbor guy and I found it to be quite an entertaining moment in our Sunday afternoon out in BocaLand of Tequila and Tacos. I recommend Rocco’s Tacos. The food is fresh with great flavors, the service welcoming and genuine, the drinks, Rocco-Taco-great!
