South Florida Food and Wine Spotlight Interviews 2012

And we’re back….rested, relaxed and focused from a well needed break from doing the spotlight interviews. 2011 was about Chefs, Vintners and Entrepreneurs. During this hiatus I also needed to think about continuing on with this series and if I do what direction will I take the Spotlight Series in 2012.

I miss the original blogger-in-the-spotlight that started this widely read and anticipated weekly post. There’s not a day that has gone by in the 7 weeks that I’ve been on this break that I haven’t thought about this series. I love doing it but it takes a tremendous amount of leg work and follow up to get each interview posted.

Bloggers sure can answer questions. I love their humor, their verbosity, and their extreme attention to detail when answering questions, granted it’s what they do and it was quite a shift for me going from writers to Chefs. Chefs were a completely different beast, ask a chef a question and you get an answer. Ask a blogger/writer a question you get a dissertation; a colorful answer complete with an explanation in a minimum of 150 words. By the same token ask a Chef for an impromptu lunch and you’ll probably get one of the best you’ve ever had. Ask a blogger for lunch and you’ll get reservations.

So in this great melting pot of food and beverage talents ranging from one extreme to the next, we’re back, because even as I toyed with not doing the Spotlight Series on a regular basis it continued to nag at me, I kept thinking of everyone I’ve had a chance to get to know and I can’t let that go; there are so many more great people out there doing interesting works that intrigue people and their story needs to be shared; they deserve their moment in the Spotlight. The 2012 Spotlight Series will be a mix of bloggers/writers, chefs, winemakers/vintners and entrepreneurs.

To kick off the 2012 Spotlight Series on none other than Superbowl Sunday is the man wearing the top toque at the newly opened Edge, Steak and Bar at the Four Seasons Miami, Executive Chef Aaron Brooks, click here to read the interview
