Cinco de Mayo celebrations in South Florida

Margarita fans rejoice with Cinco de Mayo falling on a Saturday this year; some fine food, fast food, drink specials and block parties are planned for the weekend in South Florida, check out the listing below.

On Saturday, May 5 Mercadito Midtown will host an all day Cinco de Mayo fiesta that will be filled with food, fun and cocktails. Starting  at noon Mercadito’s full dinner menu will be offered all day through 5 p.m., along with a Cinco de Mayo special cocktail: Ponche Zaragoza, made with tequila reposado orange, grapefruit, guajillo, Grand Marnier and yucataca. After 5 p.m., a Cinco de Mayo sharing menu has been created which includes many Mercadito signature menu items. Mexican mariachis and dancers will be a part of the celebration. 3252 NE 1st Avenue, Miami

Talavera Restaurant Coral Gables celebrates Cinco de Mayo with a specially created menu and live entertainment during lunch and dinner service May 4-6. 2299 Ponce de Leon, Coral Gables

Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar will host four “Cinco de Drinko” fiestas on Saturday May 5; Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens. Each restaurant will have drink specials and live entertainment (Suenalo at Fort Lauderdale & The Edge in Boca Raton); the Pancho Villa mariachi band will visit each restaurant; multiple DJs; prize giveaways and free tequila pourings. Each of the restaurants open at noon.

Tequila Sunrise Fort Lauderdale will host an all day Block Fiesta  from Noon to close on Saturday, May 5. 4711 North Dixie Highway Fort Lauderdale

Salsa Fiesta Miami and Pembroke Pines will host two days, May 4 and 5, of Cinco De Mayo parties featuring drink specials and live music. Salsa Fiesta’s drink specials for Cinco De Mayo will include $2.50 cervezas, including Dos Equis Amber and Lager and Heineken bottles, as well as $3.00 margaritas and sangria. The party starts at 6pm on Friday and 2pm on Saturday in both locations; 2929 Biscayne Blvd and Pembroke Pines at 14914 Pines Blvd.
