Sunday was my birthday and I celebrated with a gaggle of girlfriends whom I had brunch with at Temple Orange at the Ritz Carlton Palm Beach. For me, a long and leisurely Sunday Brunch with unlimited pours of Champagne/Mimosas and an ocean view is nirvana; and since it was my day, nirvana it was going to be.
Brunch at Temple Orange is $38/person plus an additional $18 if you want unlimited pours of Bloody Marys, Mimosas or Champagne; so for $56 (exclusive of tax and tip) we had quite a time. I’ll admit there are times when I don’t want to take pictures of my food or the restaurant, I just want to eat and drink like a normal person without the stress of taking tempting food photos especially on my birthday, so there are no photos of Temple Orange, the food or the buffet.
The Temple Orange buffet isn’t lavish with exotic foods or ice carvings pulling double duty as serving displays and centerpieces; nor are there sprawling stations in multiple corridors and rooms; it is a straightforward buffet, it works and I have no complaints. For $38 all the buffet bases are covered, breakfast meats, omelets, waffles, pancakes, fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, breakfast breads, meat and fish. The platters and chafing dishes are stocked and replenished continuously throughout the two and a half hour brunch. The food is fresh and appealing. The service was efficient, pleasant and interactive, our server saw to it that we were very well taken care of and that we never saw the bottom of our Champagne flute.
While I may not have wanted to photograph and document every piece of bacon, waffle and chocolate croissant I consumed, I certainly didn’t have a problem taking pictures of our beverages; not quite sure what type of message that is sending but it sure was fun and without a doubt this Sunday Brunch will be a repeat in the very near future.
