Boulud Sud Palm Beach. For those of you who know….yes it’s all that you anticipate it to be. Those of you who aren’t sure what Boulud Sud is….go to Café Boulud Palm Beach and find out. Once again, Boulud does not disappoint. If you’re a fan, you’ll undoubtedly fight for super Boulud fan status after your visit. Boulud Sud Palm Beach is truly festive and I’m sure will take the South Florida food enthusiast world by storm this summer. Last night I was invited to a preview experience of Boulud Sud Palm Beach.
When it comes to Daniel Boulud restaurants I’m a bit partial, I am a big fan of Café Boulud Palm Beach and db Bistro Moderne Miami. I’ve been to both restaurants numerous time, have written about them and the chefs that make them so exceptional. Café Boulud and db Bistro Miami for me is not always about the food but the overall experience and how I am treated. I enjoy going to both locations, I chat with the sommeliers about wine, the maître d’ welcomes me by name, the manager greets me with the European double kiss and the chef always finds time to come to my table and talk for a bit. None of this happens because I’m SouthFloridaFoodandWine.com, half the time I don’t even think they know, they just remember my face; I engage them and they reciprocate, this is no different than any other restaurant, however, it is the “Boulud” way to do this each and every single time; Boulud knows how to treat their guests; and when you’re made to feel special and remembered, you go back, often.
Boulud Sud is Daniel Boulud’s newest concept in New York City the menu traverses the Mediterranean; Southern France, Italy, Spain, the Greek Islands, Turkey and North Africa. Boulud Sud Palm Beach is a pop-up restaurant within Café Boulud and will showcase a Mediterranean menu separate and in addition to the standard Café Boulud menu this summer from July 2 through September 2 seven days a week. The Boulud Sud menu will be a la carte weekdays at dinner and on Saturday and Sunday night a four course prix fixe menu for $35 will be offered. The a la carte menu prices begin at $9 for appetizers up to $36 for a main course; the majority of the items range from $15-$27.
The Boulud Sud Palm Beach Pop-Up will be housed in the pretty Conservatory at The Brazilian Court Hotel; the room is seen in the above photo. Ironically, you’d think this room was created specifically for the Boulud Sud pop-up. During the day the warm sunshine brightens and lightens the room and at night the twinkling lights once used solely as Christmas lights adorn the indoor foliage giving off a spectacular vibe of bliss and serenity. The Conservatory is what undeniably seals Boulud Sud Palm Beach as something special. I say visit Boulud Sud just to sit in the room, it’s that enchanting. You’ll simply block out all that is not encompassed within the four walls of this room.

Cutting to the chase, the food was outstanding. The menu is exploratory and vast with choices; go with an open mind and palate and you will find something on this Mediterranean-centric menu to captivate and hypnotize your tastebuds. Executive Chef Jim Leiken took on the task of creating the new menu and has delivered exciting and whimsy. All the best menu intentions are moot if the service is not on equal playing ground; this is definitely not the case at Café Boulud. The servers are professional, attentive, interactive and meticulously accommodating; they actually like their jobs and it shows.
The menu has been created with sharing in mind, a little bit goes a long way giving diners ample opportunity to sample much of what is offered.
Pastry Chef Arnaud Chavigny and Sommeliere Mariya Kovacheva bring the Boulud Sud Palm Beach experience full circle with their complementing pairings and finishing touches to the meal.
As the Boulud Sud concept evolves in Palm Beach so will the menu, expect to see adaptations and additions as this new summer wave begins to wash ashore.
