48 hour weekend getaway; Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne

Key Biscayne, Florida is ideal for aqua-activities such as windsurfing, sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling and jet skiing. Key Biscayne plays host to the world-famous Sony Ericsson Open, held each year at The Tennis Center at Crandon Park. Key Biscayne also is home to Crandon Golf Course, named one of the top ten golf courses in the state of Florida.

The Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne is an all encompassing oceanfront resort with 450 guest rooms, a 20,000 square-foot Spa overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, a Wellness Center that offers spinning, Pilates, yoga, Tai Chi, and kickboxing, as well as a fully equipped workout room, four restaurants, two pools and an 11-court tennis center under the direction of tennis legend Cliff Drysdale. Bikes and scooters are available for rental to tour the island.

Health and wellness is cornerstone at The Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne. There is much to see and do on property that leaving and transportation does not have to be a consideration, making this an ideal 48-hour weekend getaway. Once you step foot in the sprawling oceanfront lobby you probably won’t step back out until it’s time to leave.

Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne Spa

The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Key Biscayne has 21 treatment rooms that include five facial rooms, a couples suite, oceanfront massage cabana, hydrotherapy suite and deluxe suite that contains an Aquarian tub, Vichy steam shower and massage treatment table. This spa haven is a destination within itself with ocean-inspired therapies, treatments featuring the German skincare line Babor, a Men’s Menu, Teen/Tween menu and signature packages offering a total body experience. There are private ladies’ and gentlemen’s lounges, a full service salon, a relaxation solarium where luxurious extras include complimentary muffins, pastries, fresh fruits, teas, and juices are presented throughout the day.

Club Level, Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne

The Club Level, physically, is an area on a designated floor that resembles a cozy living room. The outdoor balcony boasts idyllic views of Key Biscayne [island], Biscayne Bay and Coconut Grove. The Club Level elevates the guests’ level of service by enhancing their stay through a dedicated concierge staff offering exclusive conveniences and amenities to the guest such as travel arrangements, assistance with dinner reservations and guidance in planning itineraries for your stay both on property and off; butler/housekeeping services are offered as is complimentary internet access and express check-out. The concierge services are a welcome treat to escape the everyday responsibilities but it is the continuous food and beverage service of the Club Level that makes this service so credible. Guests start with a Continental breakfast each morning, followed by sandwiches and gourmet bites in the late morning and early afternoon followed by a mid-afternoon snack. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres are served in the early evening and cordials, petit fours and other pastries are served in the late evening before retiring. The Club Level is offered to guests at a fee of $150 additional to the room rate per night. The Club Level amenities also extend to the beach and pool. Located oceanfront in a gazebo just off the Grand Lawn, the Club on the Beach is open from 11am – 3pm and offers non-alcoholic beverages and light-bites for guests to take back with them to their beach or pool setting.

Taking the kids on your weekend getaway? There is a Ritz Kids program offering outdoor sports, arts and crafts and other educational and fun activities that keep the children active and entertained. Activities include tennis clinics, basketball and photo scavenger hunts. On the beach, children can hunt for pirate treasures, fish from the shore, take part in sand castle building contests, or the Beach Olympics. Holidays and summertime stays include field trips to the historic Cape Florida lighthouse where children can tour the lighthouse and learn about the history of the island. The Miami Seaquarium is another field trip for a fun-filled afternoon of swimming with the dolphins and attending marine shows. The Ritz Kids Club has its own building and is located at The Ritz-Carlton Tennis Garden. Full-day programs are $90 per child from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Half-day programs are offered from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for $60 per child or 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. for $50 per child. For parents wanting that quiet time, Saturday evening “Kids’ Night Out” features dinner and a movie, as well as other games from 6-9 p.m. and is priced at $60.
