Ninety South Florida Restaurants receive Wine Spectator Awards

The Annual Wine Spectator Restaurant Wine List Awards is out and from Stuart to Key West ninety South Florida Restaurants have received these prestigious awards and one of them is a Grand Award Winner.

Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Wine List Awards recognize restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers.The three levels of awards are: The first level is the Award of Excellence, there are 3,249 winners, 74 of them are from South Florida. This is Wine Spectator’s basic award, for lists that offer a well-chosen selection of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. Typically, these lists offer at least 100 selections.The next level is Best of Award of Excellence, there are 797 winners, 15 of them are from South Florida. This is Wine Spectator’s second-tier award, created to give special recognition to restaurants that clearly exceed the requirements of the Award of Excellence. These lists typically offer 400 or more selections, along with superior presentation, and display either vintage depth, with several vertical offerings of top wines, or excellent breadth across several wine regions. And the highest Wine Spectator award a restaurant receive is the Grand Award. There are 73 winners throughout the world and one is from South Florida. The Grand Award is Wine Spectator’s highest award and is given to restaurants that show an uncompromising, passionate devotion to the quality of their wine program. These restaurants typically offer 1,500 selections or more, and feature serious breadth of top producers, outstanding depth in mature vintages, a selection of large-format bottles, excellent harmony with the menu and superior organization, presentation and wine service.

In South Florida we have one Grand Award Winner, L’Escalier at The Breakers in Palm Beach under the artful and genius direction of Master Sommelier Virginia Philip and her team of talented Sommeliers Juan Gomez, Amanda Marshall and Elisha Baron.

We have fifteen restaurants that have received the Best of Award of Excellence and seventy-four restaurants that have received the Award of Excellence. These lists are impressive and remarkable not to mention the extraordinary work and talent that goes into choosing the wines that appear on each list. In honor of all ninety restaurants in our ‘hometown’ have dinner at a few, be it special occasion or date night or just a Tuesday night out with friends; check out the wine list ask the Sommelier or General Manager to recommend a wine for you by the glass or the bottle and raise your glass in admiration to a job very well done and acknowledging how proud we are of our Award Winning Restaurants.
