Thorn by The Prisoner Wine Company

The Prisoner Wine Company (TPW) sources varietals from some of the best vineyards and appellations located throughout California.  TPW has put its stamp on creating interesting and premium wine blends that are thought provoking and approachable. TPW makes The Prisoner, Saldo, Cuttings, Blindfold, and the newly released Thorn.

Thorn like its siblings is sourced from various notable vineyards throughout Napa Valley. The vineyards, offer vines varying in age and locale, which lends itself to the ultimate character and complexity of the wine.

Thorn is a blend of Merlot (78%), along with Syrah and Malbec. Each of the wine lots sourced bring its own distinct style to Thorn making it the moody, dark, and deep wine that it is. Syrah and Malbec give the wine its complexity with many layers of fruit, wood, and earth. The wine is edgy-sexy, expressive, and long, and lingering on the palate. Thorn retails for $40.
