Franciscan Estate Wines

For over 35 years there has been a select group of winemakers in the Napa Valley who have been pioneering the craft of fine winemaking. One of the founding members of this lineage established pristine vineyards in Oakville, and focused on the meticulous principles of small-lot winemaking and his unwavering pursuit to capture the supreme expression of the land. Franciscan Estate was established in 1973 and began producing wines of true character from the Oakville estate in 1975.

2014 Franciscan Estate Sauvignon Blanc sources fruit from several Napa Valley sub-appellations, producing a wine that can be defined where the Loire meets New Zealand by way of Napa Valley. A fruit forward wine with a long, clean and citrusy finish. SRP $18

Franciscan Estate Napa Valley Merlot 2013 This blend of 97% Merlot, 3% Malbec is a “Cab-lovers” Merlot with grapes sourced from Oakville to Oak Knoll. The fruit from Oakville gives the the wine its bold substance and from the cooler Carneros the grapes impose on this wine its vibrant flavors, dense color, and graceful texture. This Merlot has a forward plum nose, with violets, and dark chocolate. On the palate you’ll get hints of licorice, dark cherry, spice, and cocoa. SRP $23
